Location: St Mary's Catholic Church, Beaudesert QLD
Employment Type: Fixed-term contract until December 2026, with potential for permanency
Work Schedule (Part-time): 3 days per week - Monday, Thursday, and Friday, from 9:00am to 2:00pm (15 hours per week)
About The Role
Beaudesert Parish is seeking a friendly, reliable, and well-organized Administration Officer to support the day-to-day operations of our parish office. In this role, you will work closely with the Parish Priest and parish team to ensure smooth administrative processes, provide front-line support to parishioners, and contribute to the mission of the Catholic Church in the local community.
This is a fixed-term position through to December 2026, with the possibility of becoming permanent based on operational needs and performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide reception duties, including answering calls, greeting visitors, and handling enquiries.
* Maintain and update parish records and prepare documentation for baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
* Assist with parish communications, including newsletters and social media content.
* Coordinate volunteer rosters and manage parish supply orders.
* Process invoices and support routine financial administration tasks.
* Liaise with clergy, parishioners, funeral directors, and external contractors.
* Assist with WHS and safeguarding documentation and coordination.
* Perform general clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying, and archiving.
About You
We're looking for someone who is approachable, proactive, and has strong administrative skills. The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience in an administrative or clerical role, ideally in a church, school, or not-for-profit setting.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and willingness to learn parish systems (e.g. PACS, Flocknote)
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* A respectful and professional approach to dealing with confidential or sensitive matters
* An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, Catholic parish life and values
* A current Blue Card and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
