Responsibilities
Linen Duties
* Change bed linens and prepare beds for new admissions, discharges, and patient transfers.
* Replace sheets, pillowcases, blankets, and mattress protectors according to hospital protocols.
* Transport soiled linen to designated collection areas.
* Restock clean linen supplies in wards and storage rooms.
* Report linen shortages or quality issues to supervisors.
Waste Management
* Collect general waste, clinical waste, and recycling from wards and service areas.
* Segregate waste according to hospital guidelines and infection‐control procedures.
* Safely transport waste to disposal points or holding areas.
* Maintain cleanliness of waste bins and disposal equipment.
* Follow all safety protocols when handling clinical and biohazard waste.
General Support
* Maintain cleanliness of assigned hospital areas as required.
* Assist nursing and support staff with non-clinical tasks when appropriate.
* Ensure all activities comply with Work Health & Safety (WHS) and infection control procedures.
* Report hazards, damaged equipment, or environmental concerns promptly.
Skills & Attributes
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
* Physically capable of lifting, bending, and performing repetitive tasks.
* Reliability, punctuality, and flexibility for varying shifts.
Mandatory Requirements
* Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
* Compliance with hospital immunisation requirements (e.g., Hepatitis B, COVID‐19, Influenza).
* Understanding of infection prevention and control (training can be provided).
* Ability to follow safe manual-handling procedures.
