About the division
The Business Grants Hub and Integrity Division is comprised of three branches: The External Programs Branch, Internal Programs Branch and the Integrity Branch. We are looking for Grants Officers to assist in delivery of our grant programs across both External and Internal programs branches.
The Business Grants Hub (BGH) works in partnership with other Commonwealth agencies to establish and manage grants programs. Grants play a critical role in:
* supporting growth in businesses and industries
* fostering research and innovation
* strengthening communities
* helping the environment
* providing emergency relief
Our teams are geographically dispersed with staff located in every State and Territory.
The opportunity
Are you looking for a dynamic role in program and grants administration? The department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) Temporary Employment Register is open for eligible candidates to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for non-ongoing (temporary) employment in the Business Grants Hub and Integrity Division. Other areas of DISR will be able to access these applications for similar roles. The Register enables us to access appropriately skilled and experienced individuals at a short notice.
Applications will be reviewed as positions become available. These positions are intended to be offered on a temporary basis, however, applicants may be offered an ongoing position should a vacancy become available within 18 months of the register’s first advertisement date. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be for a specified term vacancy for a maximum initial term of 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 18 months.
Our ideal candidate
We are seeking candidates who are interested in working for DISR to expand their career. Fundamentally, you will have a strong work ethic, demonstrate integrity and uphold ethics and values and have a keen interest in grants delivery and management.
In addition, you will have:
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral) including the ability to produce high quality written material and correspondence
* Ability to work within in a regulatory environment subject to guidelines, procedures and frameworks
* Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate with a varied audience
* Strong analytical skills and the ability to exercise judgment in decision making
* Demonstrated ability to respond positively to change, including movement across teams, deliverables and expected outputs
* Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, including the ability to support staff and deliver feedback
If you are applying for the Grants Officer at the APS6 level, you will also have strong leadership skills, excellent judgement and the ability to effectively supervise staff with a focus on capability development, team building and talent management.
What you will do
As an APS Level 5 Grants Officer you will:
* Undertake program delivery activities, including assessment of grant applications and reports in accordance with relevant legislation and guidelines, and justifying your recommendations with appropriate evidence;
* Negotiate grant agreements with a clear understanding of key issues and desired outcomes and manage contracts with businesses and organisations across multiple programs;
* Communicate and engage effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders;
* Use internal systems and tools for grants, contract and customer relationship management and ensure input of quality information and data;
* Communicate delivery priorities and support junior staff to complete assigned work;
* Provide support and training to members of the team and build a positive and productive culture.
In addition to the duties outlined above, the APS Level 6 Grants Officer will also:
* Lead and direct team workflow, including supporting and mentoring team members;
* Manage a variety of internal and external stakeholder relationships, including businesses, industry groups and other government departments;
* Provide strategic support to program management, including gather local intelligence on how programs are being delivered on-the-ground to inform policy development and program re-design.
Eligibility
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.
Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
