Help us lead the way, while enriching your career with real people who encourage you to bring your best and make real impact – for your career, our communities and Australia's cleaner energy future.

About the role

As a Principal Engineer at AusNet, you'll be a key technical leader within the Group Engineering & Asset Management team. This role is all about enhancing engineering capability, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and aligning engineering activities with AusNet's strategic goals. You'll work across business lines to coach, mentor, and guide engineers, while also leading critical technical investigations and ensuring compliance with standards and regulation

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and maintain Communities of Practice to share technical knowledge and learnings.
* Coach and mentor engineers and graduates, supporting development of a 'T-shaped' engineering workforce.
* Provide technical leadership on critical projects and investigations into asset and network failures.
* Align engineering activities with corporate goals and promote cross-functional collaboration.
* Ensure technical compliance and influence engineering standards, specifications, and spares policies.
* Support engineering training, development, and progression frameworks.
* Contribute to condition and risk assessments, technical standards, and asset management strategies.

What You'll Bring

* Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering; Engineering Registration required; Chartered status preferred.
* Experience: Deep expertise in electrical or structural engineering applied to electricity networks, including design, testing, risk assessment, and asset management.
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of Australian and international technical standards, regulatory requirements, and maintenance strategies.

Skills:

* Ability to lead technical investigations and develop corrective actions.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
* Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
* Proficiency in MS Office and SAP EAM; experience with modelling software is a plus.

A real place to belong.

We celebrate unique voices, refreshing perspectives and diversity in our team. Engage and connect through our social club, wide range of events or by joining one of our Employee Network Groups.

We believe in more than just competitive pay. Here's what sets us apart:

* Leave: more than typical personal leave and a generous 14 weeks of paid parental leave, with no minimum service.
* Community giving: a paid day to volunteer with our social impact partner, Foodbank, or for a cause that matters to you.
* Perks: we offer all the other perks you've come to expect like purchased leave, income protection insurance, novated leasing, corporate discounts, private health cover discounts and more.

As an industry in transformation, we're excited by the possibilities ahead.

So, if you're passionate about our purpose and committed to making real progress, bring your energy and join AusNet. Together, we can shape a new way forward.
