$120,303 - $135,701 (EL 1) + up to 15.4% Super

Australia is leveraging the technology, capability and design expertise from the UK and US. These roles will be involved in evaluating and analysing a variety of considerations such as design, construction, maintenance, installations and infrastructure, within the Australian context. This will require supporting the definition and development of technical advice for the future nuclear-powered capability. To achieve this, we seek Senior Engineers in the following waterfront activities:

* Submarine Construction
* Submarine Alongside and Depot Maintenance
* Nuclear/radiological related Submarine maintenance and construction Infrastructure

As a member of the Engineering and Technology Division, you will continue to grow your subject matter expertise, be accountable for exercising any assigned authorities and providing objective quality evidence.

Waterfront engineers supporting the technical oversight of submarine construction or submarine maintenance may have development opportunities to post to shipyards/dockyards in United Kingdom or United States respectively.

Your role may range from being very specialist in nature to quite broad, depending on your area of work and expertise. You may also have the opportunity to work across streams. To excel in these roles, you may be required to:

* Undertake technical assurance of construction and maintenance.
* Provide research and recommendations at the appropriate level for Upkeep, Upgrade and Update.
* Research, recommend, and endorse relevant waterfront related submarine and infrastructure plant operating documentation.
* Development of ASA technical and organisational frameworks.
* Contribute to the relevant Whole of Submarine Safety Case (WSSC) approval, amendment and review.
* Other duties as assigned.

The skills required to fulfill these roles include applied knowledge and understanding of:

* Design and design control of Submarine (or Naval Ship) Platform and integrated Combat Systems.
* Working within, supporting and exercising, a delegated level of Technical Authority.
* Ensuring construction activities achieve and/or maintenance activities maintain the design intent through life of Platform Systems and integrated Combat Systems.
* Development and interpretation of engineering artefacts such as technical reports and drawings, including the ability to synthesise outcomes of specific engineering analysis.

Please note: There are currently a number of roles which will be recruited for in order of priority and business need. If you are successful in your application and the assessment process but have not been suitable for one of the high priority roles, you will be placed in a merit pool and notified as positions become available.

In accordance with the ASA Enterprise Agreement 2024 – 2027, additional remuneration provisions may be available for the preferred applicant based on the relevancy of their skills and experience. This can be discussed further as part of the recruitment process.

The Engineering and Technology Division is responsible for providing independent technical advice, assurance and authority that will support the development and future operation of the nuclear-powered submarine fleet.

With an increased forward presence of Royal Navy and US Navy Nuclear-Powered Submarines to Australia, this may mean working closely on site, and/or travel or relocation overseas.

We are seeking talented people who can work collegiately and have a passion for applying their technical skills and knowledge to assist with the development, implementation and verification of engineering requirements. This will require a number of key competencies, such as:

* Technical mastery: Highly developed or the willingness to develop strong technical competence associated with this role. This encompasses both your common and specialist skills and any additional technical competence.
* Communication: Strong written, intercultural and oral communication and negotiation skills. You will be required to communicate commercial and technical requirements to different stakeholders to inform decision making, build common understanding, share knowledge and maintain relationships.
* Decision-making: Sound judgment and logic, able to apply co-design practices, identify and mitigate risk, and be an analytical, strategic and systems thinker.
* Technical advice: The provision of subject matter expertise, reporting, analysis and guidance on technical fields, ensuring technical compliance and strong integrity.
* Professional excellence: In your professional area of expertise, you are adaptable, resilient and flexible.

These roles will benefit from 5-8 years of relevant experience in an applicable domain with experience from a variety of engineering disciplines, including but not limited to:

* Electrical Engineering
* Electronic Engineering
* Mechanical Engineering
* Mechatronics Engineering
* Naval Architecture
* Civil Engineering
* Maritime/Offshore Engineering
