The Manager, Youth Justice Community Residential Services (YJCRS) leads a 24-hour residential service that provides continuous care, supervision, and support for young people on community-based youth justice orders. This role is responsible for guiding a team of Residential Youth Workers to deliver evidence-based programs that help young people build positive routines and behaviours.

YJCRS offers temporary accommodation to young people on bail, community-based orders, or transitioning back into the community following a period of remand. Through education, training, employment pathways, health initiatives, and life skills development, YJCRS helps young people reconnect positively with their communities.

The position occupant is required to work in a team environment to maintaining a safe, healthy, caring and supportive environment for young people with a strong focus on promoting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, protocols and practices.

This position also participates in the Residential Services On-Call Manager roster, providing leadership and support to ensure service continuity across the 24-hour operation.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social Welfare, Social Science, Youth Justice/Criminology or related discipline are highly desirable.
* Experience leading a team in a residential service setting is highly desirable.
* This role involves working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and young people. A high level of cultural awareness and the capability to engage respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is essential.
* Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra
* Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
* Driver’s license (C class) is essential.
* This position does require a Senior First Aid Certificate.
* As this role is likely to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and young people, cultural awareness, the capacity to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is highly desirable.
