As a Senior Lawyer, you will be responsible for managing allocated legal requests within agreed timeframes, working collaboratively with clients and collegiately with other lawyers. You will also provide support through briefing external lawyers where required, all under the guidance and supervision of a Principal Lawyer or Senior Principal Lawyer. About you
We are searching for someone with:
* A Bachelor of Laws degree and admission, or eligibility for immediate admission, as a barrister, solicitor or legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
* Minimum 3 years post admission experience, preferably in the practice area highlighted below, noting successful applicants will be required to assist the workload of other streams from time to time:
* Public and administrative law, human rights, health regulatory, and knowledge of the Queensland Health portfolio legislation
* Workplace, industrial relations and WHS
* Health and other information management (including confidentiality, privacy and information access schemes)
* Litigation in Courts and Tribunals, alternative dispute resolution, commissions of inquiry and coronial inquests
* Corporate and commercial law (including contract drafting and negotiation; procurement; ICT; clinical research; IP; construction; infrastructure and other major projects; joint venture advisory; property; funding; insurance)
The role primarily involves providing advice with respect to enforcement activities and conducting prosecutions under the Tobacco and Other Smoking Products Act 1998 and related legislation. As such, prior regulatory / prosecutions experience will be favourably regarded.
