About the role
Aurizon is seeking a Principal Adviser Employee Relations to manage the development, negotiation and implementation of Enterprise Agreements in partnership with business units and lead employee relations initiatives across a complex and diverse workforce. This role focuses on leading negotiations, shaping ER strategy and managing workplace reform initiatives. Aurizon currently has 18 enterprise agreements spanning rail, maintenance, infrastructure and ports. With over 6,000 employees and a national footprint Aurizon offers both the scale and complexity that ER professionals value. In this role you’ll work with senior leaders and contribute to business growth, ensuring ER frameworks align with our priorities and future aspirations. This is a strategic ER role; case advisory is handled by our People Advisory team, leaving you to focus on enterprise bargaining reform, governance and influencing outcomes that shape the future of work at Aurizon. Regular travel will be required during bargaining cycles.
What you'll be doing
* Lead enterprise agreement bargaining renewal and implementation in partnership with business units.
* Drive the Enterprise ER Strategy across the organisation.
* Manage the development and implementation of workplace reform initiatives.
* Represent Aurizon in industrial tribunals where required.
* Establish and interpret relevant policies, procedures and guides.
* Provide advice and guidance on complex policy and EA interpretation.
* Effectively manage risks associated with business activity, legislation and compliance obligations.
* Partner with leaders to deliver proactive, effective ER strategies.
About you
You are an experienced ER professional who thrives on variety, challenge and impact.
* At least 5 years experience in Employee Relations including bargaining experience.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications.
* HR partnering experience (valued but not essential).
* Strong influencing and relationship‑building skills.
* Clear persuasive communication, both written and verbal.
* Integrity, resilience and the ability to juggle competing priorities.
* The ability to travel when required.
