Paspaley Pearling Company is seeking a reliable and self-motivated Metal Fabricator with an excellent work ethos and a proven work history. This is a "hands-on" role where you will be focusing on day-to-day workshop tasks and vessel work packages as required by our Engineering team.
You may be expected to reside in Darwin, Australia and work on a FIFO basis. The rosters may vary depending on locations therefore flexibility is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist engineers in executing works on fleet vessels during refit periods and dry-docking.
* Fabricating, assembling and welding steel and stainless-steel components to specifications.
* Study blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine fabrication job requirements.
* Joins metal sections together by welding, bolting and riveting
* Examine welds for width of bead, penetration and precision, and performs necessary repairs or reworks.
* Clean and smooths welds by filing, chiselling and grinding.
* Fabricating and repairing steel and stainless-steel pipework on various systems.
* Maintain and manage all engineering tools and equipment designated for fleet support.
* Maintain designated workstation and ensure it is always kept clean.
Qualifications:
* A relevant qualification equivalent to an AQF Certificate II or III or higher.
* Construction White Card
* Driver's License
Experience & Skills:
* One year's full time (or part-time equivalent) work experience.
* Great attention to detail and problem-solving abilities whilst providing quality work.
* Ability to interpret drawings, plans and specifications.
* Ability to work in a team.
* Communication and problem solving skills.
