Nuclear Medicine Technologist – Grade 2
Permanent Full Time | 80 hours per fortnight with monthly ADO

About The Role
Grampians Health is seeking a motivated and collaborative Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) to join our team at the Ballarat campus. This is a permanent full-time Grade 2 position, offering the opportunity to work in a supportive and professional environment. We welcome applications from both new graduates and experienced NMTs.
As part of the Radiology Department, the Nuclear Medicine unit provides high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services using state-of-the-art equipment and technology. Our comprehensive department includes modalities such as MRI, CT, SPECT/CT, Ultrasound, Mammography, Fluoroscopy, and General X-ray. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced professionals and have access to ongoing support from an on-site Nuclear Medicine Physician. You’ll be involved in a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, serving both inpatients and outpatients across the Grampians region. The department currently operates two SPECT/CT systems, a radiopharmacy lab, and a dedicated stress testing suite, with future plans to expand into PET/CT services.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures in line with departmental protocols and specialist approval pathways.
* Acquire and process high-quality imaging data using SPECT and hybrid CT systems.
* Manage workflow and scheduling for assigned duties to ensure efficient service delivery.
* Collaborate with colleagues and liaise with other departments to support coordinated patient care.
* Conduct therapeutic unsealed isotope procedures in conjunction with the NM Physician, adhering to radiation safety protocols and relevant legislation.
* Handle radiopharmaceuticals and chemicals safely, including preparation, quality control, and administration.
* Perform in-vitro and in-vivo procedures, including blood labeling and the handling of biological materials.
* Support the education and supervision of students and junior staff in collaboration with the Clinical Educator and Chief NMT.
Essential Skills and Experience
* Tertiary qualification in Medical Radiation Science (Nuclear Medicine)
* Current AHPRA registration
* Victorian Radiation Use Licence (Nuclear Medicine) or eligibility to obtain
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Postgraduate qualification (VSNMT/RAINS) in Computed Tomography or completion of CT-inclusive tertiary education
* ANZBMS Bone Densitometry qualification
* Experience in PET/CT imaging
