**About us**:
The Alliance Française de Melbourne (AFM) is an independent, not-for-profit language and cultural organisation promoting Franco-Australian exchange since 1890. With a mission to spread the French language and culture well beyond the borders of France, it is one of the 819 Alliances Françaises existing in 137 countries all over the world and one of the 30 AF in Australia. Situated in central Melbourne (various campuses), the centre offers online and onsite French courses for all ages, interests and all levels. It holds a variety of cultural and social events throughout the year including the annual French Film Festival.

AFM is the leading French language education centre in Melbourne, providing high quality language instruction at all levels complete beginners to advanced.

**Mission objectives**:
As a French tutor at the Alliance Francaise de Melbourne you will be responsible to share your love of French languages and cultures to our students and members. You will work closely with a dynamic team and be part of educational projects.

This is a full time position/ 38 hours a week /Monday to Friday.

Tutoring:

- 20 hours a week maximum
- Every contact hour of tutoring delivery will count as 1.5 hours of work (one hour and thirty minutes) and will include essential course planning, preparation, delivery, evaluation and liaison with program staff.
- Contact hours of tutoring for courses delivered more than once within the same term will be counted as one hour only. (i.e., if 2 courses of A1.1 are allocated to you within the same session, the first 20h A1.1 course will count for 25 hours whereas the second 20h A1.1 course will count for 20 hours only).
- Catch up lessons for students who missed class
- Preparation of specific courses or thematic workshops (eg.: Advanced conversation, Literature, History) will count as one hour preparation for one hour of tutoring.
- Assisting the Director of Studies in various tasks:
During remaining weekly hours and holiday periods (one week per term), an adapted timetable will be discussed in advance with the Course Manager.
- Training and meeting sessions :
Taking part in tutors' meeting and training sessions is mandatory. In case training or meeting sessions amount to extra hours, extra hours will be taken from the weekly administrative time or in time off if required and in accordance with the school activities.

Administration:

- Level assessment of prospective students
- Catch up lessons
- Active part of the education team and support in trial classes, Berthe Mouchette competition, DELF exam, online promotion videos testimonials.
- Assisting in projects such as organising an evening online for the Victorian teachers, writing the content of immersion days for example.
- Other administrative duties as required

**Other requirements**:

- Flexible availability to teach on weekdays evenings, and Saturday mornings.
- A valid Working with Children Check (can be arranged locally).
- All French tutors at AFM must be native French speakers.

**Desired qualifications**:
Suitable applicants will be qualified, innovative, and enthusiastic tutors of French as a Foreign Language. They will demonstrate excellent classroom practice, interest in the care and welfare of students, exemplary use of educational technology in the classroom, and commitment to collegial collaboration.

It is expected that applicants will have:

- Relevant qualifications at Bachelor or above in teaching, linguistics or equivalent
- At least 1 year of teaching experience in French language
- Proficiency with IT and digital teaching tools (e.g., interactive whiteboards, Zoom, Moodle, Canva, H5P).
- Ability to create dynamic and effective teaching content (e.g., PowerPoint, Smart Notebook, Learning Apps).
- Certification as a DELF examiner/corrector (preferred).
- Familiarity with current FLE textbooks and FOS approaches.
- Proficiency in English at a minimum B1 level / B2 preferred.
- Reliability, punctuality, enthusiasm, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Dynamism, team spirit, as well as the ability to work independently.

Pay: $73,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
