Overview

The 1000heads APAC team is looking for a talented Group Account Director to join our team. A GAD is the business owner for two or more accounts (dependent on account scale) and is responsible for the development and quality control of each account. The GAD owns the client relationship and leads the creation and delivery of our work, ensuring strategic accuracy and creative quality.

You’ll take on a dual role that blends client services expertise with hands-on social media execution. You will own client accounts, execute the strategy, and work with your direct reports to plan the delivery of social media campaigns. You will be the point of contact for senior clients (mostly based in Melbourne), the face of new business pitches, and a senior leader within our Melbourne office.

The 1000heads team is a proud, powerful collective of social media obsessives who are experts at managing client relationships. You will work closely with a host of departmental specialists, from Creative, Insights, and Design to Strategy, to deliver transformational social-first work for our clients.

Core Responsibilities

- Strategic vision: Working with senior clients and senior personnel at 1000heads, the GAD will ensure that the account has a clear path forward. This includes developing a deep understanding of the client’s business strategy and processes, identifying the client’s overall strategy for social communications and how it fits into their wider organisation. Proactively push clients forward and delight them with recent and original thinking.
- Client experience: The GAD will take overall responsibility for the client relationship, ensuring a transparent and transparent feedback loop into the agency. They will make top-level account resource decisions to keep the 1000heads team appropriately positioned, motivated, and challenged.
- Account profitability: Ensure scoping is accurate and aligned with the client’s requirements and budgets. Track, understand, and manage account-servicing levels.
- Account growth: Proactively develop client relationships, identify strategic growth opportunities, establish new relationships, and propose new concepts and plans to advance the client’s business and expand 1000heads’ service offering.
- Concept creation and presentation: Lead responses to large campaign briefs and new business pitches. Work with partners from other functions to shape strategic plans and the creative articulation of ideas. Integrate other functions (e.g., Developers or Videographers) as needed.
- Delivery of social: Maintain a high-level view of delivery, ensuring assets are true to the approved plan, performance targets are met, channels are optimised, and servicing levels are appropriate.

Qualifications

- 10+ years of agency experience; tech or related industry is a strong advantage
- Ideally, experience with global tech brands and executing campaigns centered around AI
- Strategically minded with the ability to interpret research and translate audience insights into messaging and social communications strategies
- Thrives on creativity with the ability to fuel and steer innovative ideas
- Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
- Deep knowledge of the social media landscape and awareness of emerging trends and behaviors
- Seasoned leadership with clear, transparent communication that reassures clients and internal teams
- Established experience working within cross-agency teams
- Entrepreneurial spirit and a competitive edge
