Position Information
Armidale Secondary College is a partially selective (7 to 12), coeducational high school in the New England region of NSW, with a school population of approx. 1100 students. Approximately 23% of students are Aboriginal and 22% are Ezidi. The school has a focus on high academic achievement and quality teaching in a rich learning environment. Respect, Responsibility and Resilience are the values of the College. Our mission is to provide a personalised, relevant curriculum within state-of-the-art facilities that inspire and empower both our students and staff. The College has a support unit and IEC and works closely with our partner primary schools. There is an active and supportive P&C. Extensive co-curricular programs cater for diverse student interests and include sport, dance, drama, music, environment and student leadership.
Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach Science 7 - 10
2. Ability to work collaboratively with staff to provide opportunities for growth and extension for students in Science.
3. Ability to differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of a diverse group of students, including EAL/D students
4. Ability to community effectively and build positive relationships with students, school staff and the community
5. Demonstrate modern pedagogical practices, including explicit teaching and ICT use, to engage and raise outcomes of a diverse range of students.
6. Knowledge cultural practices and educational needs of First Nations students, including pedagogical practices.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
