About The Area The University Secretariat, part of the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Operations), is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and operation of formal corporate and academic governance structures. It facilitates the University’s corporate and academic decision-making processes by providing confidential, reliable, and comprehensive secretariat, advisory, and consultative services to the University’s governing body, the Senate and its standing committees, the Chancellor, University Executive, Chair of the Academic Board, and university employees on university legislation, governance, policies, and procedures.
About The Opportunity
Provide high-level corporate governance advice and executive officer support to the University Secretary, Senate Committees, Executive and Controlled Entity Boards.
Lead and manage corporate governance and policy frameworks, ensuring compliance with legislation, statutes, and University policy within a complex statutory environment.
Play a central role in shaping and strengthening the University’s decision-making by supporting the UWA Senate and Senate Committees through high-quality agenda management, advice and governance assurance.
About You
Demonstrated experience providing strategic policy and corporate governance advice at a senior level.
Strong knowledge of legislative, regulatory, and governance frameworks within the tertiary sector or similar complex organisation.
Substantial experience coordinating and supporting board or board committee meetings within a complex organisation, ensuring effective workflows, high‑quality documentation and sound governance outcomes.
Proven ability to manage confidential matters with discretion and professionalism.
Effective leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at Executive and Board/Committee level.
Highly developed organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
Work at the heart of University decision-making, partnering directly with Executive leadership and key governing bodies. Influence and strengthen governance frameworks within a leading Group of Eight university. Be a trusted governance advisor and executive officer within a complex, high profile public institution. Full-time appointment on an ongoing basis. Base salary range: $160,962 – $167,203 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.
