About the Role

CareSouth is seeking casual Community Support Workers in the Queanbeyan region.

As a Community Support Worker, you will assist people with physical or intellectual disability or people with a history of trauma and neglect in the community by implementing a tailored program specifically designed to support them in meeting their goals. This may include but is not limited to teaching life skills such as travel training, cooking, budgeting etc.

Whether you are a mum or dad looking to get back into the workforce, a recent retiree with time to give or a school leaver looking to expand your skills this rewarding role is perfect to fit flexibly around you and your lifestyle whilst making a meaningful impact on people with disabilities lives. We want to hear from any self-starters who thrive in autonomous roles and who are motivated to help participants engage and connect with their community.

A great Community Support Worker will fill the following criteria:

* A minimum Certificate III level qualification in Mental Health, Disabilities, Community Services or related field. Or a willingness to enrol and obtain a relevant certificate.
* Demonstrate an ability to work without direct supervision.
* Current First Aid Certificate.
* Experience supporting people with an intellectual disability, learning disability or people with a history of trauma and neglect.
* Exhibit the ability to establish a professional working relationship with clients that is supportive, encouraging and challenging.
* Ability to handle challenging and adverse situations.
* Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively within complex family dynamics.
* Ability and willingness to work in a diverse range of settings, including but not limited to - a person's home or place of residence, other services or community groups.
* Availability and willingness to work as part of a 7 day roster, between 6am-6pm.
* A vehicle with Comprehensive Insurance (to be used for work purposes)
* Current Driver's License.
