The Role

Job Share - 3 Days/Week (22.5 hours) | Maryborough & Hervey Bay

We are seeking a CIS/DFV Practitioner to deliver high-quality crisis intervention, counselling, safety planning, intake services, group programs and community education to children, young people, families and carers impacted by domestic and family violence. The role includes providing evidence-based interventions, maintaining accurate client records, supporting program delivery, engaging with community stakeholders and contributing to reporting requirements. Applicants should hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences (or equivalent experience), with knowledge of out-of-home care and experience supporting diverse client needs, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families. Strong communication, teamwork and professionalism are essential, along with a commitment to delivering services aligned with the mission, values and vision of Centacare Family and Relationship Services.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide trauma‐informed, culturally safe, non‐clinical support, counselling, basic interventions and crisis assistance to children, young people, adults, families and carers affected by domestic and family violence and childhood abuse.
* Conduct intake, risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis intervention.
* Deliver brief solution‐focused counselling, psycho‐educational and therapeutic group programs, and support family conferences and case coordination activities.
* Plan, develop and participate in programs, group activities and service initiatives that support client wellbeing and safety.
* Ensure safe, age‐appropriate and developmentally sound practice when working with children and young people.
* Build and maintain effective networks and partnerships with community organisations, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services and other sector stakeholders.
* Promote collaboration and coordinated responses across domestic and family violence services and community networks.
* Participate in team meetings, case conferencing, reflective practice, peer support and sector meetings as required.
* Deliver community education and promote the organisation positively within the community and professional networks.
* Maintain accurate, timely and confidential client records, case notes, data and reports in line with organisational, funding and privacy requirements.
* Complete administrative, reporting and documentation requirements within required timeframes.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, contractual obligations, organisational policies, financial procedures and work health and safety requirements.
* Identify, monitor and report service delivery risks, trends, client needs and opportunities for service improvement.
* Participate in supervision, training, professional development, program evaluation and continuous improvement activities.

Skills & Experience

* Knowledge of Domestic and Family Violence, Child Protection, and Family Law Acts, with experience in crisis counselling, risk assessment, safety planning, and court contexts.
* Experience delivering education and training to diverse stakeholders and age groups.
* Competence in brief, solution‐focused counselling and psycho‐educational or therapeutic groups.
* Strong communication, teamwork, and report writing skills; computer literate.

Qualifications & Requirements

* Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or Social/Behavioural Sciences (or substantial relevant experience); eligibility for APS, AASW, or similar.
* Experience supporting children, young people, and carers, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
* Ability to identify client risks and refer appropriately.
* Commitment to Catholic Church ethos and Catholic Social Teaching.
* Current driver's licence, Qld Working with Children Check, proof of Australian work rights, and AFP Criminal History Check.
