A major player in the heavy industry sector, this organisation is embarking on a significant transformation journey – modernising its financial infrastructure, systems architecture, and operating model to position itself for the next decade of growth. With a complex, multi‐site operational footprint and a workforce of scale, this is an enterprise transformation that truly matters.
The Role
Reporting directly to the CFO, the General Manager Finance – Transformation is a newly created, high‐impact leadership role responsible for driving the organisation's transformation agenda across finance and the broader enterprise. You will serve as the CFO's trusted right hand – translating strategic vision into executable programmes of work, leading cross‐functional teams, and ensuring transformation initiatives land with lasting organisational impact. This is a role for a leader who is equally at home in the boardroom and the engine room.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the end‐to‐end delivery of finance transformation programmes, including ERP and finance system modernisation, consolidation, and optimisation.
* Drive HRIS and workforce systems transformation in partnership with People & Culture, ensuring finance and HR data ecosystems are integrated and fit for purpose.
* Own the organisational change management framework – designing and embedding change strategies that bring people on the journey across a complex, multi‐site industrial workforce.
* Partner with the CFO and executive leadership to define the transformation roadmap, set priorities, and manage programme governance, risk, and reporting.
* Lead the assessment, selection, and implementation of enterprise technology platforms (ERP, EPM, treasury, payroll, and procurement systems).
* Identify and execute process re‐engineering opportunities across the finance function – accounts payable/receivable, FP&A, management reporting, and shared services.
* Drive digital and data transformation initiatives, including automation, AI‐enabled reporting, and real‐time financial analytics capability.
* Manage and develop a high‐performing transformation team, including internal project leads and external advisory and implementation partners.
* Lead capital project financial governance frameworks appropriate for a heavy industry environment, including capex reporting, cost control, and project accounting uplift.
* Engage senior stakeholders across operations, technology, supply chain, and HR to align transformation priorities with business outcomes.
About You
* A senior finance leader with 15+ years of experience, including significant exposure to large‐scale transformation programmes in complex organisations.
* Demonstrated success leading ERP or enterprise systems implementations (SAP, Oracle, Workday, or similar) in an operational or industrial setting.
* Strong understanding of HRIS platforms and the intersection of finance, workforce, and people data.
* Deep expertise in organisational change management – you know that technology is the easy part.
* Experience in heavy industry, construction, resources, infrastructure, manufacturing, utilities, or logistics is highly regarded.
* CA/CPA qualified; MBA or formal change management credentials (Prosci, APMG) advantageous.
* A natural influencer who can command credibility with the CFO, board, and operational leaders while rolling up your sleeves with project teams.
* Commercially sharp, operationally curious, and skilled at managing ambiguity in large, matrixed organisations.
What's on Offer
* Executive‐level remuneration package commensurate with the seniority and complexity of the role.
* Direct reporting line to the CFO with genuine board‐level visibility.
* A transformation mandate with real scope, budget, and organisational commitment behind it.
* The opportunity to leave a lasting legacy on a well‐regarded organisation at an inflection point in its history.
