Mental Health Ambulance Police Program Clinician, Illawarra Community Mental Health Service — Temporary Full Time until 31 May 2026. NSW Health opportunity based in the Illawarra region.
Responsibilities
- Provide highly mobile, recovery-oriented clinical assessment, consultancy and support to NSW Ambulance and Police managing mental health-related cases in the community.
- Deliver clinical leadership in the trialing of virtual assessment of consumers in the community who are geographically isolated.
- Conduct mental health triage, primary client assessment and management of complex mental health emergencies and crises at an advanced level.
- Apply extensive knowledge of mental health disorders and demonstrate clinical practices to support, treat, coordinate and educate emergency services working with consumers with complex mental and physical health needs.
- Collaborate with NSW Ambulance and Police across multiple locations for shift arrangements (e.g., Nowra, Oak Flats).
- Model CORE values (Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment) and contribute to research-based clinical practice, education, research and professional leadership.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Applicable vaccination requirements for a Category A role.
- Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- Either: 
• Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration and a minimum of five years post-registration experience with approved post-registration nursing/midwifery qualification relevant to Acute Community Mental Health; OR 
• Registered Occupational Therapist with current AHPRA registration; OR 
• Social Worker eligible for registration with AASW.
- Valid NSW Driver's Licence.
- Essential training and credentials as part of the role as defined in the Position Description.
This is a temporary leave relief position until 31 May 2026 with the possibility of extension.
