Lead the transformation of skills and learning in the Nation's Capital
At the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT), we believe education is more than training—it's about shaping futures, building communities, and driving innovation. For over 90 years, CIT has been the heart of vocational education in the ACT, empowering thousands of students to thrive in careers that matter.

Now, as we enter an exciting era of transformation—embracing digital learning, industry partnerships, and future-focused skills—we are seeking a Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Deputy CEO) who shares our vision: to make CIT the most agile, innovative, and student-centred Technical and Further Education (TAFE) in Australia.

Your impact
Imagine leading an organisation where every decision you make helps a student take their next step in life. As Deputy CEO, you will:

Drive strategic change that positions CIT as a leader in vocational education and workforce development.
Champion innovation through operational excellence – from digital learning platforms to industry-aligned programs that prepare students for tomorrow's jobs.
Build partnerships with government, business, and community to ensure CIT remains relevant, responsive, and impactful.
Inspire teams to deliver exceptional learning experiences that change lives.

Who you are
You're a bold thinker and a collaborative leader with a strong connection to Canberra. You understand the complexity of education and the power it has to transform lives. You bring:

Proven executive leadership experience in education, training, or a related sector.
Strong understanding of vocational education and training (VET) and higher education regulatory frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to lead organisational transformation and manage complex change.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
Deep expertise in financial and risk management.
Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
High-level strategic thinking and problem-solving capability.

Why CIT?
CIT is more than a TAFE—it's a community. We offer:
A chance to shape the future of skills and training in the ACT.
A dynamic leadership team committed to innovation and excellence.
Opportunities to influence policy and practice at a state and national level.
Competitive remuneration and flexible work arrangements.

This is your opportunity to lead change, inspire innovation, and make a lasting impact on education in Australia's capital and beyond.

Apply now and help us write the next chapter in CIT's story.

Remuneration: The position attracts a remuneration package ranging from $402,267 - $414,704 depending on current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant. This includes a cash component of $355,348.
