Who we are looking for:
Maintenance Planner/ Scheduler is responsible for the planning, building and maintenance of integrated maintenance schedules across multiple vessel types and locations, balancing maintenance activities, operational availability, resources, and regulatory obligations. The Scheduler turns maintenance plans and scopes into credible, logic-linked schedules and provide clear look-ahead visibility and schedule control using the appropriate tools such as MS Project, Polaris, JiBE, Jira, Docushare, Sharepoint and Nautical Systems Enterprise.
In addition to managing program related schedules, the Maintenance Planner/ Scheduler will support Teekay in undertaking business improvement activities, undertaking quality management & supporting operational tasks, supporting the development of operational documentation. The Maintenance Planner/ Scheduler will also be required to develop and maintain other business-related schedules as assigned by their manager. This position directly supports the Vessel Manger and liaises with various internal and external stakeholders as various projects progress.
Major Responsibilities
* Treat Safety, Environmental and Health compliance as a top priority.
* Develop and maintain integrated activity schedules across vessel classes and locations, with sound logic, critical path visibility, and resource awareness.
* Run schedule control: collect progress, update status, analyse variance, forecast completion, and drive practical recovery options with stakeholders.
* Plan docking and maintenance activity windows: build detailed look-ahead, coordinate access and dependencies, and align work packs with support network capacity, spares, and specialist labour availability.
* Support the rolling hull inspection program: schedule inspections and rectification work, integrate findings into the forward plan, and manage emergent scope without losing baseline control.
* Produce clear reporting (weekly look-ahead, key constraints, change impacts, critical path, and risk/opportunity to schedule) and maintain schedule data quality in the chosen systems.
Requirements (Knowledge, Skill and Abilities)
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships between team members and clients
* Experience as a scheduler/planner in maritime, ship repair, heavy engineering, Defence sustainment, or similar asset-intensive environments (docking/refit exposure highly valued).
* Strong scheduling fundamentals: WBS development, logic linking, critical path/float analysis, progress measurement, forecasting, and recovery planning.
* Proficiency in MS Project (other scheduling software), strong Excel skills, and confidence working with CMMS/ERP data.
* Stakeholder skills to work calmly on-site, translate constraints into schedule impacts, and drive timely decisions across multiple parties and priorities.
* A safety-first mindset and attention to detail: disciplined data quality, clear assumptions, and professional reporting.
* Trade or technical background (marine/mechanical/electrical) and/or degree in engineering or project management.
* Familiarity with performance measurement (baseline control, earned value concepts) and schedule risk/constraint management.
* Understanding of maritime maintenance drivers (class/regulatory requirements, docking cycles, hull inspections, work packs, spares lead times).
* Hold as a minimum an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance (or preferably a Negative Vetting Level 1, or the ability to obtain)
* Self-motivated, with a high level of initiative, able to work independently
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
* Analytical, problem solving, time management, project management and decision-making skills.
* Knowledge in the operation and maintenance of Planned Maintenance Systems (AMPS, NS5 etc)
* Experience in managing or working within multi-disciplined project teams
* High-level negotiation and influencing skills
* Understanding of Engineering and design implications in ship design, construction, and operations within a commercial or Defence environment is desirable.
