About The Business Unit
The Justice System Policy and Reform Unit (JSPR) is a business unit within Justice System Coordination and Reform (JSCR) group of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). JSCR collaborates with partners across the justice system, including with key entities and the courts, and other parts of the department to ensure policy reform is strategic, relevant, holistic and people‐centred.
About The Role
This Policy Officer role sits within the Legal Assistance Team and supports the responsibilities and deliverables of that team. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly across projects within the Justice System Policy and Reform business unit as required to meet the priorities of government.
Some Of Your Duties Will Include
* Contribute to the delivery of strategic justice system reforms, including policy advice and strategic projects relating to the legal assistance sector.
* Support the effective management of legal assistance funding.
* Research and prepare a range of quality written materials for internal and external audiences.
About You
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
* Strong writing and research skills with the ability to assist with the preparation of policy materials.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to support secretariate and stakeholder engagement functions.
* Understanding, or ability to gain an understanding, of government grant management including reporting and stakeholder management.
* Experience with or knowledge of the Victorian justice system and/or the legal assistance sector would be advantageous.
