About the role
We are seeking an experienced Respiratory Physician to support our new Lung Function Laboratory service You will deliver safe, patient and family centred, evidence based care, including illness prevention and chronic disease management for Respiratory patients. Your role will be responsible for the reading and reviewing of lung tests, as well as the supervision and teaching of junior medical staff withing within the Laboratory. Key Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient Respiratory Medicine services, including consultative care, on-call participation, ED liaison, and direct inpatient management.
* Deliver clinical leadership through supervision of junior medical staff, lung function scientists, and trainees, including allocation of responsibilities and participation in MDTs.
* Ensure high standards of patient-centred, evidence-based care aligned with Australian National Standards, Barwon Health policies, and safety and quality frameworks.
* Oversee governance and reporting within the lung function laboratory, including interpretation of tests and supervision of reporting processes.
* Support effective discharge planning and documentation, including timely discharge summaries and guidance on death certification.
* Contribute to education, training, research, audit, and continuous improvement activities within the Respiratory Unit and broader organisation.
* Maintain professional development, performance review requirements, mandatory training, and collaborative relationships across departments and community services
What we’re looking for
* Physician (FRACP or equivalent) with registration by Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Further College recognised qualification in Respiratory Medicine.
* Possess a genuine interest in supporting the development of the Respiratory Medicine service to meet the needs of the patient and their family, and the broader community.
