Job Description
We are looking for an Associate Director level Fire Safety Engineer to join our National Fire Engineering Team. In this role, you will partner with key clients, contractors and internal stakeholders across a range of sectors including Defence, Health, Infrastructure, Aviation and Commercial Buildings. This role is ideal for technically strong Fire Safety Engineers looking for the next stage in their career. This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.
How you’ll make a difference
- Oversee and provide technical input into the delivery of building and infrastructure projects on time, on budget, and to required quality standards.
- Develop performance‑based fire engineering strategies for a diverse portfolio of complex and bespoke projects, supporting both state and national fire engineering teams.
- Provide technical leadership through mentoring, coaching and training of fire engineers, and conducting rigorous quality reviews of project outputs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients, generating strategic partnerships and identifying current business opportunities.
- Manage fire engineering projects end‑to‑end, including preparation of commercially robust proposals, scope development, budget and program control, and multidisciplinary bid support.
Qualifications
Desired qualifications and experience (but not mandatory)
- Ideally, 10+ years of consultancy experience in Fire Safety Engineering, with a relevant Bachelors or Master’s Degree; Chartered Professional Engineer status (Engineers Australia), NER Fire Safety registration, and Certifier – Fire Safety accreditation.
- Strong technical capability in performance‑based fire engineering, including first‑principles analysis, fire and evacuation modelling, and leading projects from concept design through to occupation.
- Lead negotiations with approval authorities on performance‑based designs and provide expert support during construction phases, site inspections and client/contractor coordination.
- Communicate effectively across all media and collaborate confidently with technical and non‑technical stakeholders, fostering robust client relationships and supporting multidisciplinary project delivery.
