Civil Comms Contracting pty Ltd. is hiring full-time Telecommunications lines worker.
As a Telecommunications Lines Worker will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing and upgrading telecommunications network infrastructure across copper, fibre-optic and hybrid systems.
Key duties include:
Installation & Construction of Networks
Install, assemble, erect and secure telecommunications cabling, aerial lines, underground conduits, fibre-optic lines and related network infrastructure.
Set up and align poles, supports, terminations, cabinets, pillars, joints and distribution equipment.
Conduct cable hauling, splicing, jointing and terminating using industry-approved methods.
Assist with the build and expansion of FTTP, FTTN, HFC and wireless network infrastructure.
Maintenance & Fault Repair
Locate, diagnose and repair faults, breaks, interference, signal loss or degradation in copper and fibre systems.
Perform preventative maintenance, including testing and confirming network performance to required standards.
Replace damaged lines, connectors, hardware, pits, conduits and enclosures.
Technical Testing & Compliance
Use industry tools to test cabling, including OTDR, power meters, fusion splicers, TDR and other diagnostic tools.
Interpret network designs, plans, schematic diagrams and job specifications.
Ensure all works meet Australian Standards, NBN and carrier requirements, including WHS compliance.
Worksite & Safety Responsibilities
Operate machinery such as elevated work platforms (EWP), cable winches and trenching tools where required.
Follow strict OHS, risk management, traffic management and site safety protocols.
Complete daily job records, site reports, test sheets and documentation.
Customer & Stakeholder Liaison
Communicate with supervisors, project managers and customers about job progress, changes or issues.
Provide courteous on-site support and ensure minimal service disruption.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of telecommunications cabling, fibre, copper, aerial and underground networks.
Ability to perform jointing, splicing, terminating, testing and fault-finding.
Competence in reading and interpreting network plans, schematics and design drawings.
Ability to use industry tools such as OTDR, fusion splicer, testing meters and cable hauling equipment.
Qualifications
Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology or equivalent.
White Card (Construction Safety).
Experience
Previous one experience in telecommunications field work, cabling, network installation or civil works beneficial.
Experience working on NBN or major carrier projects is preferred.
