Business Development Manager (Defence)
Position Description
CGI is one of the world’s largest independent IT and business consulting services firms, with a fast-growing presence in the Australian Space, Defence and Intelligence (SDI) market. We support national security, sovereign capability and mission-critical operations through innovative technology, data-driven insights, and trusted partnerships.
We are now looking for a Business Development Manager with a deep understanding of the Australian Defence sector, particularly Land Domain and Joint capabilities, to join our expanding SDI team in Australia. This is a high-impact role that will help drive strategic growth and strengthen our footprint across Defence programs.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Identify, develop and close new business opportunities within Defence, particularly aligned to Army, CASG, CIOG, and relevant Prime partnerships.
Lead strategic campaigns and go-to-market initiatives across priority areas such as C4ISR, deployable systems, digital transformation, cyber resilience and AI-enabled defence.
Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships across Defence and industry — from senior client decision-makers to ecosystem partners.
> Collaborate with internal teams (solutions, delivery, bid, operations) to craft compelling value propositions, pursue tenders, and secure long-term engagements.
> Develop and execute win plans, client contact strategies, and pipeline growth aligned to CGI’s strategic objectives.
> Actively contribute to our SDI leadership in Australia, shaping both growth strategy and delivery excellence.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
> 5+ years’ experience in business development or capture roles within the Australian Defence industry, ideally in systems integration, software or secure communications.
> Deep understanding of the Commonwealth procurement process, Defence Integrated Investment Program (IIP), and CASG / Army acquisition frameworks.
> Strong network across Defence stakeholders and/or experience collaborating with key Primes.
> A track record of identifying, qualifying, and winning new business opportunities including proposal development and contract negotiation.
> Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
> Self-motivated, collaborative, and driven by delivering long-term value to national missions.
> Australian citizenship and the ability to gain or hold NV1 clearance (mandatory).
