Key competencies (role specific criteria):
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
Demonstrated in-depth, or ability to acquire knowledge of specimen collection, and the ability to perform phlebotomy on a wide range of patients in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
Knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of, Clinical Pathology and/or Specimen Reception procedures including data entry proficiency and the use of medical and scientific terminology.
Demonstrated client focus skills, and the ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms with a wide range of clients and staff.
Demonstrated ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner with and without direct supervision. Ability to prioritize workloads to meet specific deadlines.
Ability to work shifts as rostered to ensure service provision to our clients.
A demonstrated commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement, and an understanding of the basis of laboratory Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs.
Ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.
