Why Your Role Matters
The Capability Systems Centre (CSC) is looking for a Software Developer to work on applied research projects focused on developing dynamic decision analytics, including simulation, optimisation and visualisation. The successful candidate will work closely with the systems modelling team and collaborate with University and Defence stakeholders. In this role you will develop innovative, evidence‐based decision support tools within a highly interdisciplinary research team.
Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain software components for decision analytics tools, including simulation, optimisation and visualisation. • Collaborate with modelling and analytics scientists to translate research concepts into functional software solutions. • Participate in agile development processes and contribute to code quality with version control, testing and debugging.
Qualifications
* Relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
* Experience in software development, including designing, implementing and maintaining application components.
* Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g. Java, Python) and experience working with shared codebases.
* Sound understanding of software development practices, including version control (e.g. Git), testing, debugging and Agile methodologies.
* Experience with data‐driven applications and working with relational or non‐relational databases.
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
* Ability to interpret requirements and translate them into functional technical solutions, working independently or collaboratively.
* Effective communication, time‐management and organisational skills with a commitment to continuous learning and workplace values.
