Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to lead our site operations and ensure compliance with the construction program. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling mechanical activities to achieve safety, cost, time, quality, environmental, and community targets.
Your objectives will include:
* Ensuring daily mechanical operation and maintenance of the TBM and associated equipment.
* Organizing and planning future mechanical operations; overseeing planned maintenance for all mechanical equipment.
* Developing specifications for production, including materials, equipment, material flows, and plant/system layouts.
Key Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
* Responsible for assembly, commissioning, and preventive maintenance during production across the site.
* Manage daily mechanical operation and maintenance of the TBM and associated equipment.
* Organize and plan future mechanical operations; oversee planned maintenance for all mechanical equipment.
* Develop specifications for production, including materials, equipment, material flows, and plant/system layouts.
* Liaise with the Mechanical Manager on TBM, conveyor, gantry crane, and related equipment assembly, installation, dismantling, commissioning, and testing.
* Conduct daily plant inspections; complete and submit maintenance and breakdown reports.
* Coordinate with the TBM Electrical team on planning ongoing and future works.
* Supervise and support mechanics on shift, providing troubleshooting and preventive maintenance guidance.
* Ensure Method Statements and Risk Assessments are in place for current and future mechanical works.
* Inspect and audit plant performance to maintain compliance with Australian Standards.
* Collaborate with the Engineering team to prepare design proposals.
* Deliver weekly and monthly reporting, schedules, and rosters.
* Ensure consistent and adequate supply of equipment and materials.
* Maintain and foster a safe working environment while delivering outstanding service.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mechanical TBM Supervisor in tunnels/underground/heavy civil construction projects or similar.
2. Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, mechanical engineering or similar.
3. Extensive TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) experience.
4. Minimum 5 years in a similar role supervising tunnelling construction activities and crews.
5. Exposure to Drill & Blast, Road Header, or TBM excavation techniques.
6. Expertise in underground excavation, ideally tunnel construction, plant operations, and support crews.
7. Demonstrated experience in delivering health, safety, quality, and environmental outcomes.
8. Skilled in coordinating underground workers and collaborating closely with Tunnel Engineers.
9. In‑depth knowledge of TBM, conveyors, and associated tunnelling equipment.
10. Ability to supervise all mechanical works, produce method statements, and collaborate with safety and other departments to maintain project safety standards.
11. Experience in major infrastructure construction operations of similar scale, with proven ability to operate in dynamic environments.
