About the Role
Sustaining NSW Families is a structured, evidence-based program delivering nurse-led, sustained home visiting to children and families living in areas of socioeconomic disadvantage who have been identified as vulnerable. The program seeks to engage parents early, beginning in pregnancy, to support the development of a relationship with their unborn child and continuing through the transition to parenting, the newborn period, and into toddlerhood. Care is delivered using a strengths-based, partnership approach, with a strong focus on building therapeutic relationships with families. The Social Worker plays a key role in the program and is introduced to every family participating. This position requires significant experience working with children and families, enabling the clinician to work autonomously, provide specialist psychosocial support, and contribute to positive outcomes for vulnerable families. You will provide a high-quality clinical social work service to clients, consumers, and their families/carers to ensure the delivery of optimal outcomes within the Sustaining NSW Families program.
Where You'll Be WorkingYou will be based at Kurri Kurri Community Health, located approximately 25 minutes from Newcastle and 20 minutes from Maitland. Kurri Kurri is a welcoming former coal mining town situated close to the picturesque Hunter Valley wine region and is well known for its vibrant murals displayed throughout the town and surrounding areas, contributing to a strong sense of community identity.
