We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Accountant to join our Finance Team. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting to the Business Manager, offering a unique opportunity to apply your professional expertise within a supportive, faith-based educational setting. The Role
As our Accountant, you will play a vital role in the financial stewardship of the College. You will manage the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring our resources are effectively managed to support the College’s mission.
Key responsibilities include:
* Financial Reporting: Preparing monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and assisting with annual statements and external audits.
* Budgeting & Forecasting: Supporting the Business Manager in developing annual budgets and monitoring performance through variance analysis.
* Payroll Administration: Managing end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing, ensuring compliance with superannuation and relevant awards.
* Accounts Management: Assisting with accounts payable/receivable, including supplier payments, fee invoicing, and professional debtor management.

Selection Criteria:
* Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* Experience: Demonstrated experience in accounting or bookkeeping, including payroll and financial reporting. Experience in the education or NFP sector is highly regarded.
* Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software. Knowledge of TASS (The Alpha School System) is a significant advantage.
* Mission Alignment: Full alignment with the Christian values, virtues, and Statement of Faith of Freshwater Christian College.
* Compliance: Ability to obtain a Queensland Positive Notice Working with Children Blue Card and be legally permitted to work in Australia.
* Character: A collaborative team player with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism.
* Statutory Compliance: Managing BAS, GST, PAYG, and FBT lodgements, along with government financial questionnaires and grant acquittals.
* Financial Governance: Maintaining robust internal controls, reconciliations, and asset registers to ensure the integrity of the College’s records.
