The opportunity
Tract seeks a passionate Senior Urban Designer to join our Melbourne office within our established National team, who has experience in delivering place‐based, human‐centred projects across multiple scales, with a focus upon Masterplanned/New Community design.
We can offer the right person the opportunity to progress their career in a vibrant, contemporary, multi-disciplinary design environment. Collaborate and partake in internal discussions across multiple disciplines, solidifying a great work environment and ability to improve knowledge and skills across all aspects of the industry. Work on a diversity of projects including masterplanned residential communities, recreation and tourism, civic, education, health and public realm outcomes, across the public and private sector.
The role will involve:
* Project management and client support in both public and private sectors, working across town centre/precinct renewals, infill developments, greenfield/new community masterplans, public domain plans, and spatial framework projects.
* Taking ownership of strategic design projects, including masterplanned communities, structure plans and urban design frameworks.
* Report writing, plan preparation, yield analysis, client and public presentations.
* Development of tender responses and EOI opportunities.
* Working across a national portfolio of projects.
We are looking for a Senior Urban Designer who:
* Holds a recognised tertiary qualification in a design or planning discipline (Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Planning).
* Has proven experience at a similar level, ideally 7yrs+ post‐graduate.
* Has ideally 5yrs+ working on new communities' projects.
* Can demonstrate a good working knowledge of best practice urban design, new communities masterplanning and feasibility study expertise, and experience in the development of public realm masterplans, structure plans and urban design frameworks.
* Thrives working as part of a team, is self‐motivated and is comfortable undertaking self‐directed work.
* Understands the importance of delivering project outputs on time and within budget.
* Has excellent design, graphic, verbal and written communication skills.
* Has a high level of proficiency in CAD (MicroStation advantageous but non‐essential) and the Adobe Suite. Knowledge/skills in QGIS/Rhino advantageous.
