About the Role
CPC Engineering, a West Australian owned company with over 50 years of experience in the mining sector, is seeking a skilled local Painter/Blaster to support ongoing works in our Port Hedland workshop. This role provides an opportunity to grow and develop your skill set while working on a diverse range of jobs.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform abrasive blasting to Sa 2 1/2 (ISO 8501-1) on mild and hard steel components (e.g., beams, columns, pipes, frames, infrastructure).
* Apply protective coatings (e.g., epoxy primer, polyurethane topcoat, glass flake epoxy, or Polybrid 705E) to achieve specified DFT (250-3500 um).
* Conduct surface preparation, including hand/power tool cleaning (St 2) for repairs.
* Operate and maintain blasting and spray equipment, ensuring compliance with AS 1627.9 and ISO 8501-1 standards.
* Work in a workshop environment, adhering to QA/QC protocols.
* Collaborate with supervisors and adhere to strict safety standards on high-profile mining projects.
About You
* Proven experience as a Painter/Blaster in industrial or mining settings (marine experience a plus).
* Knowledge of surface preparation and coating techniques (e.g., APCS1, APCS3, Polybrid systems).
* Valid certifications: Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application.
* Ability to work 10-12 hour shifts.
* Commitment to safety and quality, with attention to detail for complex surfaces (e.g., welds, crevices).
* Australian citizenship or permanent residency (mandatory).
