The Demand Planner is responsible for strong forecast accuracy through building and managing both the short and long term forecasts.
The Demand Planning role requires a team oriented, analytical, & interpretive individual with strong process and systems skills through leveraging input from internal Sales, Marketing and Analytics teams.
The Demand Planner is also expected to have a solid understanding of forecasting processes and lead & facilitate pre-consensus reviews.
It also entails working and communicating with multiple internal stakeholders.
Working closely with the team, this role is accountable for ensuring strong forecast accuracy to enable best-in-class customer service levels, optimized stock levels, and delivery of products on-time and in-full, while minimizing non-quality costs.
The position utilizes rigorous analysis on forecast performance and works with the Account Managers to drive initiatives that will enable the business to efficiently deliver on customer demand, drive efficiency in the supply chain and enable optimum on-shelf availability.
Responsibilities
Manage monthly demand planning process and ensures a standard approach in terms of formats, templates, use of forecasting tool, process inputs and outputs
Responsible for the collection and accuracy of planning data, including customer specific inputs
Coordinate demand updates and changes from key areas within the business
Manage abnormal demand and prioritise and escalates issues that arise, assess risk and opportunities
Report on forecast accuracy
Manage MRP planning and conduct monthly forecasting planning and S&OP cycle
Incorporate plans for product launches and phasing out in line with the project schedules into the planning cycle
Prepare ordering recommendations in collaboration with Supply Chain Supervisor on a monthly basis
Monitor and make recommendations to ensure product inventories are at optimised levels, with adequate buffer stocks while avoiding excess stock situations
Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and currency of systems.
Collaborate with and influence stakeholders involved in producing and maintaining the information needed for planning activities
Report on slow moving and expiring inventory and propose appropriate actions on a monthly basis, including write-offs, shelf life extension, clearance or other dispositions
Participate in the analysis of low stock cover situations and propose appropriate actions on a weekly basis, including stock transfer, placing or expediting POs, finding substitutes or other disposition
Conduct inventory availability and planning reviews for key account customers, prepare ad-hoc reports as required
Qualifications
Strong Communication skills, both oral and written
3+ years related experience in Demand and/or Supply Planning
Cross-functional experience in sales and/or marketing is an asset
Proficient in MS Office-Advanced Excel Skills; forecasting or supply planning applications
SAP experience is certainly a bonus
