GV Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Hand Therapist to take a leadership role in our hand therapy clinic. This pivotal Grade 3 position is open to both Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists with expert knowledge in hand therapy. You will be responsible for overseeing comprehensive, patient-centered care for referrals across GV Health's inpatient wards, outpatients, Emergency Department, and specialist suites, including post-operative patients referred from metropolitan hospitals. Key Responsibilities and Duties As the Senior Hand Therapist, you will be instrumental in service delivery, development, and staff supervision: Clinical Expertise: Deliver contemporary, evidence-based therapy, including advanced splinting, casting, exercise prescription, scar management, and wound care. Service Leadership: Lead the triage, assessment, and treatment of patients, while driving service improvement initiatives and the development of clinical competencies, procedures, and guidelines. Supervision and Mentoring: Provide robust guidance, support, and ongoing education to junior hand therapy staff (Grade 1 and 2 OT and Physio staff) to ensure timely and effective patient outcomes. Collaboration: Oversee positive professional relationships with Orthopaedic and other relevant departments to achieve maximal operational effectiveness. Quality & Outcomes: Evaluate clinical outcomes, monitor service delivery against KPIs, and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings. Key Selection Criteria Formal Qualifications & Registration (Essential) Bachelor of Occupational Therapy / Physiotherapy (or equivalent). Current, unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist. Essential Skills & Experience Extensive clinical experience and expert knowledge in evidence-based hand therapy service provision. Robust understanding of contemporary professional practice, including person-centered care and safe clinical practice. Proven ability to provide clinical supervision, mentoring, and coaching to junior clinicians and/or students. Demonstrated skills in the implementation and evaluation of evidence-based practice and clinical outcomes. Proven ability to effectively manage complex problems and negotiate innovative solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all professional levels. Desirable Attributes Minimum of 7 years of clinical experience in relevant healthcare settings. Relevant post-graduate study in Hand Therapy Practice (or working towards). Membership in relevant associations (e.g., AHTA, OTA, APA). Proficiency in a language other than English.
