Unique Nursing and Midwifery Opportunities

Nursing and midwifery in the Northern Territory offers a unique blend of challenges and rewards. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to deliver contemporary care to people from diverse cultural backgrounds. The territory's vast landscape and remote communities provide a chance to experience varied and rewarding work that cannot be found elsewhere in the country.

The position is available across multiple clinical areas, including:

* Critical Care (ICU/ED/CCU)
* Medical Services (General/Rehab/Geriatric/Cancer Services/HITH)
* Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs services
* Midwifery Services (all areas)
* Neonatal and Paediatrics
* Outpatients
* Perioperative Services (Anaesthetics/Instrument/Circulating/PACU)
* Renal Services (all areas)
* Surgical Services (General/Orthopaedic)

To be successful, applicants must have a minimum of 12 months experience in a relevant area of clinical practice.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing/midwifery care to an allocated group of clients.
2. Work within the registered nurse/midwife scope of practice and follow relevant legislation, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
3. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and contribute to maintaining a safe environment for consumers and staff.
4. Demonstrate NT health values - safe; responsive; kind - in all decision-making and interactions.
5. Foster a positive workplace culture through role modelling appropriate behaviour.
6. Follow defined service quality standards and WHS policies and procedures.
7. Be willing to work shift work and be redeployed to meet clinical needs.


Selection Criteria

* Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
* Understanding of client care coordination and ability to achieve positive outcomes.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Knowledge of social and cultural issues influencing healthcare provision.
* Understanding of Continuous Quality Improvement principles.
