About the Position
In association with Grand Pacific Health (GPH), Hunter Primary Care is looking for a Senior Peer Worker to support the establishment of the new Medicare Mental Health Centre in Central Coast.
Medicare Mental Health Centres provides high quality, evidence-based assessment, care coordination, information, support, and treatment to people experiencing psychological distress, their family, carers, and support networks. The service offers immediate, short to medium-term episodes of care and service navigation.
The Senior Peer Worker will work within the Medicare Mental Health Centre Central Coast team to provide open, appropriate, and effective support to people accessing or considering connection to Medicare Mental Health services.
This is a full-time opportunity, full time positions have the option to enjoy the Rostered Day Off each month.
As the Senior Peer Worker, you will also:
* Provide guidance and mentorship to new Peer Workers by responding to their queries, role-modelling positive practices, and promoting effective case management.
* Support individuals accessing services through shared experiences, advocacy, and trauma-informed, recovery-oriented approaches.
* Deliver peer support in one-on-one and group settings, fostering hope and resilience while identifying opportunities for growth.
* Collaborate with clinicians and team members to help individuals navigate systems and achieve their desired outcomes.
The Senior Peer Worker works collaboratively with the other members of the Medicare Mental Health Centre Central Coast team and external services to maximise care outcomes for consumers.

Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone with:
* Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Peer Worker role
* Direct lived experience of life changing mental health challenges and/or mental health service use as well as periods of healing and personal recovery
* Commitment to safely and purposely share lived experience to engender hope and support others on their personal recovery journey
* Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, and lead and guide staff through influence
