Aviation Training Capability Lead • Newcastle, NSW, AU
This role is primarily responsible for leading the end‐to‐end analysis, development, approval and deployment of a single, integrated aviation maintenance training solution for LMA. The solution will unify all internal lines of business, meet government and industry regulatory requirements, and create a future‐proof, sustainable learning ecosystem that addresses the national AME skill gap for LMA and its stakeholders.
Responsibilities
* Solution Lifecycle Ownership
o Lead the aviation maintenance training solution from concept to sustainable operation, ensuring each phase is delivered on time, within budget, and to stakeholder expectations.
* Feasibility & Scope Definition
o Conduct rigorous feasibility studies, stakeholder needs analysis, and define the scope boundaries.
* Business Case Development
o Prepare data‐driven business cases (ROI, TCO) and present findings to executive sponsors.
* Executive Engagement & Influence
o Translate the proposed vision into executive‐level briefings, secure sponsorship, and maintain ongoing stakeholder alignment.
* Drive the architecture of an LMA‐wide learning solution that merges competency‐based curricula, learning environments, and performance analytics.
* Lead cross‐functional working groups and coordinate the rollout plan.
* Regulatory & Quality Assurance Alignment
o Ensure full compliance with ASQA, CASA, Defence (and any other applicable) standards during development and deployment.
* Execute the program plan, drive integration testing, and manage the go‐live launch.
* Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Transfer
o Establish feedback loops, lessons‐learn workshops, and knowledge repositories to embed continuous improvement.
* Reporting & Executive Communication
o Prepare concise executive summaries, status dashboards, and risk reports.
Qualifications
* University qualification in Training & Workforce Development (or equivalent).
* Seasoned demonstrated experience in aviation maintenance, defence training, or corporate training design.
* Expert knowledge of Australian aviation regulatory landscape (ASQA, CASA, DASA, Defence).
* Exceptional stakeholder‐engagement, influence, and negotiation skills.
* Outstanding ability to inspire, motivate, and influence cross‐functional teams and senior executives.
* Strategic vision for sustainable engineering and learning solutions.
* Highly advanced written and verbal communication, capable of crafting executive‐level presentations, regulatory dossiers, and technical briefs.
* Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
* Degree qualification in aviation related engineering management (systems‐engineering focus) or similar.
* Certified in quality & safety management (ISO 9001, AS9120/AS9125, Defence industry safety standards).
* Demonstrated success managing large, multidisciplinary programs.
* PMP credential or equivalent experience.
* Extensive knowledge of enterprise learning management systems, simulation (flight‐deck, ground, AR/VR), and cloud‐based training solutions.
* Prior delivery of large LMS or simulation‐based solutions in a regulated environment.
