Garbutt State School was officially opened in 1932 in the suburb of Garbutt, near Townsville. The school has historic ties to Defence Force Families and a diverse student body. • Co-design and implement culturally responsive teaching and learning strategies across planning, pedagogy, and classroom artefacts reflecting the local community.
• Co-design and implement a Parent and Community Voice Group to foster authentic engagement in school decision-making and partnerships supporting teaching, learning, and wellbeing.
• Strengthen collaborative transition processes with early years providers and feeder high schools to support continuity of learning, visits, family engagement, and enrolment support.
• Establish effective sustainable systems for prioritising and monitoring at-risk and vulnerable students.
