1. Ongoing Full-Time employment
2. Located in Eveleigh with flexible working arrangements, requiring approximately 50% office attendance, with Thursdays being a mandatory in-office day
3. Salary ranges from $129,464 to $142,665 p.a. plus superannuation and annual leave loading

About the role

The Cloud Engineer works in the Data Operations team to support the Azure platform, including managing and maintaining cloud infrastructure, monitoring system performance and availability, handling access and resource configurations, troubleshooting platform issues, implementing security and compliance controls, and coordinating with Cyber, Network, and Data teams to ensure stable and secure operations across all Azure environments.

Your responsibilities:

4. Manage and deploy Azure Cloud resources, ensuring security compliance.
5. Support Senior Cloud Engineers with workloads and priorities.
6. Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
7. Develop automation to streamline deployment and management.
8. Collaborate with teams to scale resources and improve Cloud practices.

About you

As the Cloud Engineer, you will have proven experience in enterprise-scale environments, ideally across multi-cloud or Azure platforms. You are proactive, solution-focused, and collaborate effectively to solve complex problems.

You will demonstrate

9. Hands-on Azure skills across compute, storage, networking, security, backup, and data services
10. Scripting, automation, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, PowerShell, Azure CLI)
11. Managing code repositories and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub)
12. Designing, implementing, and optimising secure, scalable cloud infrastructure
13. Observability, cost management, governance, and compliance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Defender for Cloud, and RBAC/Policy

Key Knowledge and experience

14. Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential requirements of the role

15. Current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for paid employment.
16. IT Degree or Relevant Experience
17. Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure certification is Desirable
18. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
