* Play a critical role in protecting UWA's reputation and legal standing by supporting the embedding of a robust, University‐wide compliance framework across a highly complex and regulated environment.
* Operate as a trusted advisor, supporting enterprise‐level compliance, risk and governance decision‐making within a large, public university environment.
* Full‐time (1.0 FTE) appointment on an ongoing basis.
* Base salary range: $116,262 – $127,078 p.a. (pro‐rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The Risk, Integrity, Safety, and Compliance (RISC) division oversees the University's policy, risk management and compliance frameworks, leads initiatives to embed enterprise‐wide, integrated risk management and fosters a positive, risk‐aware culture. RISC's areas of responsibility encompass health, safety & wellbeing, enterprise risk, integrity and standards, internal audit, business continuity policy & compliance, and information governance.

The Compliance team, a key unit within RISC, provides a structured and coordinated approach to policy development and compliance management, supporting the University's commitment to a strong risk management culture.

About the opportunity

* Support the design, implementation and ongoing operation of the University's enterprise compliance framework, contributing to assurance that legal and regulatory obligations are effectively identified, managed and embedded across one of Australia's most complex and highly regulated public institutions.
* Work in partnership with academic and professional staff, including senior stakeholders, to identify, assess and manage compliance risks, providing authoritative, practical advice and supporting the monitoring, reporting and remediation of compliance issues to help safeguard UWA's reputation, legal standing and operational integrity.
* Operate at both strategic and operational levels, translating legislative and regulatory requirements into practical compliance systems, assurance, reporting and capability uplift across the University.

About you

* Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, governance, business administration, or a related field.
* Extensive experience in compliance management, preferably within the Australian higher education sector.
* Demonstrated significant experience in supporting the design, implementation and operation of compliance management systems and assurance activities within a complex organisation.
* Demonstrated experience in the interpretation of legislation and a good understanding of the Australian legislative and regulatory environment.
* Knowledge and experience in the preparation of policy, procedures, training materials and supporting documentation.

Note

Employment checks will include information on gender-based violence, sexual harassment, and related misconduct to meet legal obligations. A current National Police Clearance will be required by the successful applicant.
