About the Role
Spruson & Ferguson is seeking an experienced and motivated Legal Secretary to join our dynamic Legal team on a 13-month fixed-term, part-time basis (0.6 FTE). Based in our Sydney office, this role will provide high-level, confidential support to our Principals and play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our legal practice.

* Manage legal files from creation to closure, including conflict checks, updates, archiving, and document control
* Coordinate authors' calendars and deadlines to ensure efficient workflow and timely delivery
* Support the development and maintenance of authors' practices with a focus on high-quality client service
* Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents and correspondence to a professional standard
* Conduct legal research and searches (e.g. ASIC) as required
* Liaise professionally with clients, barristers, expert witnesses, opposing solicitors, and associates on behalf of authors
* Assist with WIP, billing, and debtor management
* Handle general administrative tasks including filing, photocopying, data entry, and expense processing (via Concur, if applicable)
* Organise business travel arrangements and itineraries (local and international)
* Provide basic paralegal support, including document collation and court bundle preparation
* Offer team support during peak periods or staff absences
* Perform other duties as reasonably required by Spruson & Ferguson
About You
* Minimum 1 year in a Secretary or similar role within legal, intellectual property, or professional services
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Outlook)
* Tech-savvy with the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes
* Strong attention to detail and high accuracy
* Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise under pressure
* Clear and confident communication skills – both written and verbal
* Reliable, proactive, and self-motivated
* Eager to learn and grow professionally
* Strong problem-solving ability
* Team-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve high-quality outcomes
