We are seeking an experienced and motivated Midwifery Unit Manager (MUM) to lead our Womens and Childrens, Outpatient Department and Models of Care team. This leadership role is responsible for the operational management and clinical governance of the Women and Children’s, Outpatients Department while also driving service improvement, innovation, and evidence-based maternity models of care. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to enhance access, coordination, and quality of care for women, babies, and families. The Midwifery Unit Manager (MUM) is in-charge of all aspects of the unit/ward environment and takes responsibility for the standard of patient care in the unit/ward.
The MUM is pivotal to the co-ordination of patient care, unit/ward management and leadership to enable the delivery of safe, effective, quality Nursing Care and efficient use of resources. The NBMLHD Nursing and Midwifery Workforce will provide safe, compassionate, person-centered health care in collaboration with patients, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams. This is a role that will see you foster strong collaboration with Midwifery, Obstetric, Paediatric, Allied Health, and Community teams, monitor service performance, patient experience, and key clinical indicators and support the development of innovative and flexible care pathways to improve access and continuity of care for women and families.

What will you bring to the role
* Registered Midwife - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) AND extensive relevant post registration midwifery experience.
* Demonstrated knowledge of Midwifery Models of Care and experience/understanding of the specific challenges and strategies required to develop and manage the models efficiently and effectively.
* Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills and ability to liaise and negotiate with clinicians, managers, staff and other key stakeholders.
* Proven ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the unit are managed to deliver safe and efficient health care within available resources.
* Excellent leadership skills and the ability to motivate, inspire and manage staff to achieve service and organizational goals utilising change management principles to maintain a positive workplace culture.
* Evidence of and commitment to patient/customer focused care, clinical governance and quality improvement.
* Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment.
* Current Driver’s License and ability to travel within the LHD as required.
