We are seeking a dedicated and capable Catering Assistant to join our Marshmead team in a permanent full-time role. This position combines catering (0.8 FTE) with Program Assistant responsibilities (0.2 FTE), offering a dynamic and varied work environment supporting food services, property, farm, garden and student programs.
About the Role As a Catering Assistant, you will:
* Work closely with the Food Services Coordinator to manage communal and student kitchens
* Prepare and provide nutritious, balanced meals that meet dietary and medical requirements
* Maintain high food safety and hygiene standards
* Manage stock, deliveries, storage and inventory
* Support student programs, outdoor activities and expeditions
* Assist with property, farm and garden operations
* Contribute to a welcoming, inclusive village environment
* Support College events and operational requirements as needed
Occasionally, you may work an early or late shift when fulfilling Program Assistant duties; however, total hours remain unchanged.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and working in a vibrant school environment.
About You Essential
* Experience in catering, operational support, outdoor education, or a related field
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent organisation and time management
* Ability to work independently and as part of a small integrated team
* Commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility
* Current Working with Children Check (Employer)
* Valid Driver’s Licence (4WD experience desirable)
* Right to work in Australia
Desirable
* Food preparation and handling experience
* Victorian Powerboat Licence
* Horticulture or farm-based knowledge
