The role:
We are currently seeking a Tasting Room/Cellar Door Supervisor who will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring consistently high service standards and exceptional customer experience. The role provides on-the-floor leadership, supports sales and brand growth, and ensures operational procedures, staffing, and systems are executed effectively.
Tasting Room Operations and Leadership:
* Supervise, support, and lead tasting room staff during service, setting clear expectations and standards.
* Act as the primary on-site leader, providing consistent daily direction and decision-making.
* Manage staff rosters, bookings and customer communications.
* Oversee service delivery standards, stock control and cellar door presentation.
* Monitor sales performance and report on key metrics.
* Deliver ongoing staff training in wine knowledge, brand storytelling, service standards, and sales techniques.
* Review, maintain, and update Tasting Room Standard Operating Procedures.
* Ensure compliance with licensing, RSA requirements, and workplace policies.
Sales, Marketing & Brand Support:
* Support cellar door sales initiatives, wine club growth, and eCommerce offers.
* Assist with content creation and execution for social media content and act as a brand ambassador.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with tour operators, tourism bodies, and local partners.
* Maintain POS and CRM systems, manage payments and ensure accurate reporting.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Previous cellar door, winery, or hospitality management experience essential.
* Strong wine knowledge with a genuine passion for wine and storytelling.
* Proven experience in staff supervision, training, and rostering.
* Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate.
* Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends (5 days over a 7-day roster).
* WSET qualifications and/or an RP badge (desirable).
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an engaging, customer-focused approach.
* Hands-on, proactive attitude with strong organisational skills.
* Current driver's licence.
