Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Gambling Counsellor to join our team as part of the GambleAware program based in Bega or Cooma. This program provides free, confidential, and non-judgmental counselling and support for individuals, families, and community members concerned about their own or someone else's gambling.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide therapeutic counselling to individuals, couples, families, and groups affected by gambling harm via face-to-face, telephone, and online modalities.
* Develop, implement, and regularly review individualized treatment plans based on clients' needs and goals.
* Deliver services in line with the program framework, including intake, assessment, and evidence-based interventions.
* Facilitate group support sessions to address gambling harm in the community.
* Respond to referrals promptly and make appropriate internal and external referrals to support clients holistically.
* Engage in community outreach activities, including talks, presentations, outreach and attendance at events, interagency and liquor accord meetings.
* Maintain accurate, confidential client records and data in line with funding requirements.

Requirements for Success

* Degree in Psychology or Counselling.
* Current membership of a relevant peak professional body or association.
* Proven experience in therapeutic counselling, including assessment, case planning, and the delivery of individual, couple, family, and group sessions across face-to-face, phone, and online settings.
* A strong understanding of gambling-related harm and the challenges experienced by affected individuals and families.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and implement tailored treatment plans supporting client recovery and wellbeing.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
* Current NSW driver's licence.
* Ability to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
