About the role
The CAD Designer - Electrical is responsible for the delivery of the electrical schematics for new and existing locomotive design projects. Predominantly this will be for local projects but may include international projects as well.
This includes:
* Working within the existing Progress Rail CAD systems as defined by the CAD Supervisor or Manager.
* Working closely with Design/Product & Service Engineering electrical teams to develop the requirements to implement design &/or revision for the electrical schematics.
* Provide technical liaison and support (per your SME discipline) to Progress Rail maintenance & design staff.
* May also be required to complete 2D & 3D layouts, proposals and concept design work as well as design and drafting of components and assemblies in various disciplines such as structural, sheet metal, mechanical, electrical and piping.
* Developing electrical schematics to Progress Rail standards through engineering inputs.
* Developing material BOM's, point to point connection lists, and similar through electrical schematic design.
* Technical liaison and support for business functions.
* Providing information and communication into the Progress Rail business around CAD system issues.
About you
* Experience (3yrs + preferred) in Electrical Schematic CAD systems (E3, AutoCAD, Elecdes preferred).
* Experience with other CAD systems desirable (NX, Solidworks).
* Experience with NX electrical/mechanical routing desirable.
* Experience with PLM systems (Teamcenter) desirable.
* ERP system functionality desirable.
* Knowledge of relevant Australia and International Engineering Standards.
* Knowledge of formal engineering change processes and reliability improvement processes.
* Proven written and oral communication skills.
* Detail oriented.
* Must possess the ability to work under pressure & achieve strict deadlines.
* Good interpersonal skills to coordinate with national staff.
* Proactive and forward thinking.
