We are seeking an experienced and values-driven CFO to join MCCI Executive Leadership Team and partner closely with the CEO and board.

About MCCI
Established in 1975, MCCI is a leading not-for-profit organisation and registered charity supporting people and communities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, ACT, and Queanbeyan regions.

About the Role
This is a critical leadership role responsible for providing strategic oversight across finance, risk, governance, and compliance, while ensuring the organisation's financial sustainability and operational resilience. The CFO will also lead finance system improvements, strengthen management reporting, and enhance financial visibility to support informed decision‐making and performance across the organisation.
The role is supported by a finance manager, senior management accountant, and a broader finance team including payroll and accounts payable.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic financial leadership and trusted advice to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team and Board, to shape and deliver MCCI's strategic plan
* Provide high‐quality financial insights, scenario modelling, and advice to support decision‐making
* Lead organisation‐wide budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, payroll and statutory compliance
* Deliver timely, accurate and insightful financial and management reporting to support effective decision‐making
* Lead the organisation's enterprise risk management framework, embedding risk awareness into strategy and operations
* Oversee finance system governance, financial controls, audits and compliance with funding, grant, regulatory and legislative requirements
* Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, processes, technology, and reporting to strengthen efficiency and performance through growth
* Prepare and present high‐quality papers and reports to the board and relevant committees
* Lead and develop a high‐performing finance and risk team
About You
You are a strategic, commercially astute finance executive leader who is motivated by purpose and impact. You bring a strong governance mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, practical insights.
You will bring:
* 5 + years senior financial leadership experience, ideally within a not-for-profit or complex stakeholder environment
* Experience in aged care and/or NDIS financial management (highly regarded)
* Exceptional understanding of financial management, risk, and governance in an Australian charity or company limited by guarantee
* Proven experience working with boards and executive leaders
* Demonstrated experience leading finance system improvements and process efficiencies
* A collaborative leadership style with a commitment to ethical practice and community impact
* CPA or CA qualification (essential)
