Role Overview
Rampart is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Content Producer/Editorial Assistant to support Joe in delivering high-impact content. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the quality, efficiency, and reach of Rampart. From research to managing social media and subscriber relations, this is a varied and exciting role for someone with a passion for media and a knack for organisation.
What we're looking for
Someone with 2-3 years of experience in journalism, content production, politics, business analysis or consulting. We are casting the net wide - we are looking for someone thoughtful, who has attention to detail, while also delivering high quality work. Candidates with a demonstrated interest in business and finance news are preferred. We will expect you to be familiar with Joe Aston's work from either the
Australian Financial Review
or Rampart.
Key Responsibilities
Research and Editorial Support
* Conduct desktop research to support investigative reporting and commentary.
* Lodge Freedom of Information (FOI) and court document requests and follow up on responses.
* Manage the publishing process (CMS) of Rampart content across newsletter and website.
Social Media and Audience Engagement
* Manage and post on Rampart's social media channels to amplify recently published articles, adapting long-form investigative journalism into compelling social content formats.
* Create promotional assets (graphics, video clips, thread-style posts) that drive engagement and subscriptions.
* Monitor content performance and iterate based on audience insights.
* Identify emerging platforms and formats that align with Rampart's premium brand.
* Create original content (short form videos, for example) with the Rampart team.
Administrative and Operational Duties
* Respond to subscriber feedback, issues, and user experience questions.
* Troubleshoot minor technical issues for subscribers.
* Handle Joe's speaking requests and assist with his diary management.
* Book travel and coordinate schedules for the team.
Essential skills
* Strong written skills with attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
* Platform-native understanding of social media, particularly how news content performs.
* Creative thinking about content formats and distribution strategies
* Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Highly valued skills
* Experience creating social content for business or news publications
* Experience with content management systems and digital publishing workflows
* Understanding of subscription business models and conversion-focused content
* Video editing or basic graphic design capabilities (using CapCut, Canva, or similar)
* Familiarity with analytics tools and data-driven content optimisation
* Existing knowledge of Rampart's journalism and editorial approach
