Contract Professional
Job Opportunity
We are seeking a Contract Professional to manage the full contract lifecycle, from award to final close-out. As a Contract Professional, you will play a key role in managing payment claims and variations for clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the full contract lifecycle, including preparation, review, and processing of payment claims and variations for clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
* Oversee the full payment lifecycle, ensuring compliance with relevant legislative frameworks.
* Develop and maintain claim templates, FAQs, and training documentation for consistent commercial execution.
* Lead training and onboarding for new contract team members, including delivery of handover tools and ongoing mentoring.
* Review and verify claim accuracy, supporting documentation, and contract alignment.
* Manage end-to-end purchase order lifecycle, including forecasting, accruals, reconciliations, and reporting dashboards.
* Track commercial KPIs like days sales outstanding, aging claims, variation closure, and margin impact using tools like Power BI or Excel.
* Chair internal stakeholder meetings and drive commercial visibility and accountability across projects.
* Lead variation and change management processes, working with Estimating and Project Controls to align on value and scope.
* Collaborate closely with Procurement, Finance, Legal, and Project teams to minimize risk, resolve disputes, and manage exposure.
* Own contract registers, amendment tracking, and ensure governance and compliance across all documentation.
* Drive continuous improvement across the contract administration function, from standard operating procedures and training to tool selection and ERP configuration.
Requirements:
* Contract administration experience in construction, mining, or oil & gas.
* Strong understanding of construction contracts, payment schedules, change orders, and variations.
* Experience with regulatory compliance and a solid grasp of commercial law principles.
* Confident in end-to-end claim preparation, dispute resolution, root-cause analysis, and commercial negotiation.
* Proficiency in enterprise resource planning systems like IFS, Procore, Aconex, SharePoint, or similar.
* Advanced Excel or Power BI skills – pivot tables, dashboards, KPI tracking.
* Ability to align payment claims with project progress, milestone tracking, and contract deliverables.
* Strong commercial acumen, stakeholder management, and ability to present complex contract positions to internal and external stakeholders.
* Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing junior contract team members and driving a culture of continuous improvement.
* Skilled in drafting and interpreting formal contractual correspondence, amendments, and client-facing documents.
* Familiar with performance security, bonds, guarantees, and retentions.
* Bonus if you’ve led forensic claim reviews or supported dispute resolution with legal/insurance teams.
