About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified GP in Emergency Medicine to join the medical team at South East Regional Hospital in the Bega Valley, part of the Southern NSW - Coastal Network. This role is based in Bega, NSW.
Where you’ll be working: Bega is 429 kilometres south of Sydney, 228 kilometres from Canberra or 174 kilometres from the NSW Snowy mountains. Nearby Merimbula offers a regional airport with a short 55 minute flight to Sydney and daily flights to Melbourne. Responsibilities / What you’ll do

Specific duties should align with Emergency Medicine in a rural hospital setting, including high-quality patient care, trauma and emergency event management, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Selection Criteria / Qualifications
- Holds registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist, General Practice (FRACGP or FACRRM) or training towards specialist or additional qualifications for Emergency Medicine (such as Fellowship in General Practice or ACEM Emergency Medicine Diploma).
- Significant senior experience relevant to Emergency Medicine practice and competence in trauma and emergency scenarios in Australian rural hospital settings.
- Effective clinical communication through information technology and strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, build collaborative partnerships and provide leadership of a team.
- Commitment to patient safety and clinical governance.
- Commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of medical, nursing and allied health professionals and to continuing self-education, research and quality improvement.
- Commitment to NSW Health CORE values and SNSWLHD values, and willingness to participate in an equitable medical roster, including evenings, nights and weekend shifts.
- Additional qualifications in Emergency Medicine are desirable.

- OASV: This is a Category ‘A’ position; comply with NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. Vaccination proof against influenza is required for NSW staff entering RACFs or working in NSW Health RACFs.
